TINA VALIN,MEMBER AT LARGE

(She, Her)

Tina grew up on Long Island in a somewhat boring suburb of New York City with a pet duck who thought it was an attack dog. So she used her imagination to spice up her life and started writing short stories which took her on exciting adventures.

She graduated from Hofstra University with a BA Degree majoring in Communication Arts and soon became employed as a News Editor for WABC and moved to the much more stimulating and sometimes scary world of Manhattan.

Tina had the ambition to be a film director/screenwriter and made the huge decision to leave family and friends behind and headed to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams. She produced a highly celebrated lesbian play that starred Jean Smart, directed/produced

documentaries and a feature film, and had a production company that created many diverse projects some of which she wrote herself. Currently Tina co-owns Rev Up Tech, a national corporate leading-edge computer skills and digital media arts training company.

Her passions are to help change the world to be a better place with an emphasis on philanthropy, community organizing/creative social engagement, and electing kindhearted politicians.

She shares her life with her partner, Shirley, of almost four decades and their beloved rescue mini-doodle, Duffy, who enjoys his spacious yard. “We are all very happy in our new home in Oceanside and thank everyone for being so welcoming to us.” And she still writes…
