Steven Burrell

Born Aug. 2 1945 Auburn Ca. Parents Harold and Floriene Burrell, and had brother Tony who was two years older. My father was a Purple heart vet of WWII, served in the Korean War. The first ten years moved from base to base. I grew up in a small Ag. town in Northern Ca. Marysville Yuba City. AA degree from Yuba College. B.A. in Fine Art and Soc.Science Sacramento State. I met organizers from the United Farm Workers Union in the summer of 1967. I was then recruited to join their grape boycotts like many other students. This changed the direction of my life, like many others at that time. Social Justice movements like workers rights gay rights and the under-represented have been the focus of my life. I ended up being actively involved in politics, because I felt working people and oppressed people needed their voices heard. I have most recently focused on fighting for queer rights, older people's rights, homeless people, and the poor. I still have a passion for fighting for the working people's justice and against the oppression that we face here, and in the world.
