LGBTQI COMPETENCY TRAINING
PROMOTING SAFETY, INCLUSION AND WELL-BEING
The North County LGBTQ Resource Center training is a two-hour workshop that promotes safety, inclusion, and well-being for LGBT students.
Well-trained staff who effectively implement LGBT and gender inclusive practices are the foundation of a safe school for all students. Creating a more tolerant, inclusive, and accepting school environment teaches children to recognize and resist stereotypes.
A SAFE SPACE
While there are many programs dedicated to preventing bullying, most do not specifically address issues that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth face on a daily basis. In response, the North County LGBTQ Resource Center has created training and tools for educators and staff with the following objectives in mind:
Decrease the use of hurtful or exclusionary language and/or practices in school.
Intervene when witnessing anti-LGBT language, harassment, and/or bullying.
Serve as a resource and support for both students who identify as LGBTQ and for administration and staff.
