The North County (LGBTQ) Resource Center training is a 2-hour workshop that promotes safety, inclusion and wellbeing for LGBT students.
Well-trained staff that effectively implement LGBT and gender inclusive practices are the foundation of a safe school for all students. “Creating a more tolerant, inclusive, and accepting school environment teaches children to recognize and resist stereotypes.”
While there are many programs dedicated to the prevention of bullying, most do not specifically address the issues that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth face on a daily basis. In response, the North County LGBTQ Resource Center has created training and tools for educators and staff with the following objectives in mind:
Ø Decrease the use of hurtful or exclusionary language and/or practices in school.
Ø Intervene when witnessing anti-LGBT language, harassment and/or bullying.
Ø Serve as a resource and support, both for students who identify as LGBTQ and for administration and staff.
